31 Day Challenge 2016

It's that time of year again when the I lose all my good sense and join in the 31 Day Challenge! This will be my third time participating, so I have a pretty good idea of the mess I'm getting myself into. My first two years I participated were 2013 and 2014 (visit the links to see what I came up with!). I wasn't able to do it last year for a myriad of reasons and have been looking forward to diving into it this year. What is the 31 Day Challenge? Go visit Chalkboard Nails FAQs page to learn all about it!

The first two times around I was really focused on trying new techniques and experimenting. This year my focus will be more oriented around just completing the challenge. Hopefully I'll still come up with some good designs in the process! I still have product reviews to share, so I'll be double posting a number of times during the month.

So who is joining in with me this year? I can feel the dread setting in all ready.. See you tomorrow with my first post!

Guest Post by Cured by Chris

Hello ladies! I have one last guest post to share with you! Today's post is brought to you by the lovely Christine of Cured by Chris (formerly Serenity Nails). I've gotten to know Christine over the past year and she couldn't be a nicer, more genuine person. I love reading her blog for quality in depth reviews with lots of gorgeous photos. I swear every polish I see looks so good on her! I'm so happy that she took some time to do a post for me here, especially a nail art one because I love what she does. Take it away Chris!

Hey guys!

I am so honoured to be here on Emiline's blog today while she enjoys a much deserved holiday! Like you, I drool over Em's nail art all the time on here, my favourite thing being her creativity and unreal skill at those macro shots!
For those of you who don't know me, I am Christine and I run an Australian based blog, Cured by Chris, where I focus mainly on swatches.

Today I have created a fun, colourful nail art look I have been wanting to try for ages. I hope you enjoy it!

Guest Post by Furious Filer

Hello friends! Before the month is over and the craziness that is the 31 Day Challenge begins, I have a couple more great guest posts to share. Today's guest post is brought to you by Marta from the blog Furious Filer. I am a big fan of Marta's. She has the most gorgeously shaped nails ever, elegant hand poses, and does amazing nail art that really inspires me. I am so happy she agreed to do a guest post for me! Let's take a look at what she created!

Hello! My name is Marta and I blog over at Furious Filer. This is my first time doing a guest post and I'm super excited it's for Emiline's blog! Her nails are always painted to perfection! I am not the most patient girl on the planet and I often lose it when doing nails so it might surprise you that for today's post I chose to do an advanced stamping design. What can I say, I like living on the edge! Let's have a look.

I have recently swatched A England's Russian Soul collection and I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use the shades in nail art. My absolute favourite is the olive/opal Katyusha* which I used for my base.

Colores de Carol Pre-Fall 2016 Collection

Happy Monday everyone! Today's post is a review of Colores de Carol Pre-Fall 2016 Collection. It's a small collection that is a nice transitional palette cleanser from the the bright shades of Summer. These muted shades have me wanting to slip on a pair of fuzzy socks and curl up in a cozy blanket. It may still be 98 degrees right now, but these have me dreaming of Fall..

Celestial Cosmetics We Breathe Fire Collection + July LE 2016 Waterlily + First, Last & Always

Hello lovelies! Today I have some stunning polishes to share with you from Australian indie brand Celestial Cosmetics. I have really liked the originality I've seen from the polishes I've tried so far, and this collection and exclusive shades are no exception. First off is the We Breathe Fire Collection, inspired by the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) by Christopher Paolini. I've heard the name Eragon before but know nothing about it, except that it's about dragons I guess. Understanding the reference isn't really requisite though in my opinion. What matters is that they're pretty, right? In addition to the six piece collection, I have two more special polishes at the end of my post. Moving right along..

ABC Challenge: Q is for Quartz

Let's pretend it's still Friday and I'm not late once again for the ABC Challenge, okay? I felt like I was going to be quite limited in my options for the letter Q, but I did come up with a good handful of ideas before deciding on this one. This design may look familiar to you as I copied as closely as I could this design from the amazing Glitterfingersss. There's no doubt the original is totally better, but I think mine turned out as well as I could hope for.

Pretty & Polished Connie and Carla Collection

Hello lovelies! Today I have another Pretty & Polished collection to share with you, this one much different from the last. The Connie and Carla Collection is inspired by the movie of the same name, and consists of seven glitter polishes in a variety of colors and formulas. I have never seen the movie before- a comedy about drag queens- but after swatching this collection and reading about the inspirations, it's at the top of my to-watch list!

Pretty & Polished Veil Collection Nail Art and Review

Hey everyone! Today I have a post that is WAY overdue. I will heartily admit that I struggled with this one. This was my first foray into thermal polish territory and I was slightly overwhelmed. The polishes I have to share with you are the Pretty & Polished Veil Collection. This is a six piece collection of thermal toppers that become transparent with heat. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well they are cool! I just had a learning curve with how to photograph and best show these off to get over. I've been holding on to this post going back and forth with whether I should just start over, but I've finally decided I just need to show this and I think you'll get the point!

UberChic Beauty Mandala Love and Wild West 02 Stamping Plate Review

Hello lovelies! Today I am sharing with you a couple stamping plates from UberChic Beauty! The Mandala Love Uber Mini plate is a smaller plate with beautiful images that are vignettes of a larger, whole Mandala. The Wild West 02 plate is a full size single plate and has a variety of mainly geometric designs. I've done two nail art looks for each plate. Let's take a look!

Hello everyone! I have another wonderful guest post for you today. The great and amazing Kellie from the blog KellieGonzo is gracing this blog with her presence and I'm am just thrilled! Kellie has some of the best swatch photos on the nail polish block and has influenced WAY too many of my purchases. After years of following her blog, I've had the pleasure of getting to know her more personally. She is super sweet, humble, and has a hilarious sense of humor. Take it away Kellie!

Pretty Serious Serious Business Collection and Pantone Duo

Hello! Today I have a fun collection that I think any NPA (nail polish addict) can appreciate. The Pretty Serious Serious Business Collection is made up of six shades and each is named after lingo we obsessed polish people use in our daily lives. For those not quite so deep in the polish world, I have a brief explanation for each name. You know I love a good name, but the shades don't disappoint either! There are quite a few unique colors that I know you'll be wanting to get your hands on.

ABC Challenge: P is for Paint

Guest Post By Very Emily

Hello ladies! I mentioned last time that I haven't been around much this month because I have a more than usual amount of things going on. Also I am due for a break and needed a few weeks of just taking it easy. I asked some of my blogger friends to help me out with guest posts which I'll be sharing for the next couple of weeks!

My first guest post is from someone who hardly needs an introduction here, Emily of the blog Very Emily. She is my nail bestie, confidant, and an all around incredible person. Wise beyond her years, she is my guru who gives me guidance, especially when I'm losing it. Which is way too often, haha. I'm so fortunate to have her on my blog again. Take it away Emily!

Hello Nail Polish Society fans! I'm Emily aka Very Emily. Emiline and I have been friends for quite some time now which is evident from the numerous posts you can find on this blog under the tag "Very Emily". Haha! Even I was surprised to see so many, we've definitely collaborated (under many different forms) a lot, and no one is stopping us any time soon!
For my guest post I decided to use one of the "reject" manicures from our previous "Paint All The Nails Presents Dotticures" link up. I use the word reject lightly because I absolutely loved this manicure (nothing rejected about it!) but ended up posting a different one for the link-up as I created several looks. Actually, I think this one was always destined to end up on this blog as this was one of the designs Emiline and I brainstormed when we were figuring out what to do for our Twinsie Nails. Inspired by this image I found on Pinterest.
I started with a base of Dance Legend Grey Britain, a gorgeous speckled grey and a spot-on match for the inspiration image. Then I stamped using Messy Mansion in Carbon and Mundo De Unas in Yellow, both using the polka dot image from the KD3 plate from Born Pretty Store. Finished with glossy top coat.
I really hope you like these! Thank you so much for having me (yet again) Emiline, I hope you're enjoying a much-deserved break!

Aaaa! Thank you so much Emily! I'm thrilled you used this look that I am SO IN LOVE with. If you have yet to discover Very Emily, you are in for a real treat! As you can see, Emily has  amazing photos with skillful writing and tons of creativity. Her blog is really professionally presented, yet she's so down to Earth and connects well with her readers. Also don't forget to follow Emily on social media through  facebookinstagram, and twitter.

ABC Challenge: O is for Optical Illusion

Hi ya'll! I haven't been around much as I've been a little overwhelmed with birthdays, anniversaries, and back-to-school preparations. My plan was to take this month a little easy blogging wise, but I still have lots that needs to be shared! I just wanted to give you a heads up about my more than usual sporadic posting. Moving right along.. Today's ABC Challenge nails!

ABC Challenge: N is for Neon

Hello my polished peeps! I'm excited about bringing you this week's installment of the ABC Challenge. The letter "N" presented so many options, I'm a little sad to only do one look for it. Though I did manage to include two of my top themes in here- neon and negative space.

Mani Swap With @talialouisenails

Hello ladies! I have some fun nail art to share with you today! This week the very talented @talialouisenails and I did a mani swap, and this was my recreation of a design she did awhile ago. As soon as I first saw her post this adorable neon polka dot design I saved in my "to-try" folder, and when the opportunity came to do a swap with her I immediately knew I would choose this one!

Stardust Beauty August 2016 Releases

I have four of the Stardust Beauty August releases to share with you today. One is a limited addition and the other three I have are inspired by Hot Wheels cars! I think any card carrying nail polish addict pays close attention to the paint jobs on any car that's not straight black or white. Now identifying the make or model is a whole other story, one I can't tell you because I know nothing about them! Like I said, I can appreciate the colors, so I am totally behind this inspiration.
